How to use a laser level for kitchen cabinets

How to use a laser level for kitchen cabinets

Today, we will talk about how to install a kitchen cabinet using a laser level. Installing kitchen cabinets can be daunting, especially if you're doing it for the first time. A laser level is one of the essential tools you'll need to get the job done.

Tools you will need:

  1. Self-leveling 360 Laser Level
  2. Laser Level Tripod
  3. Measuring Tape
  4. Builders Bubble Level
  5. Cabinets and Fixings
  6. Wood Shims
  7. Marker or Pencil
Step 1: Place All Cabinets and Find the Highest One

Place all assembled cabinets in the correct position on the floor, then use the laser level to find the highest cabinet.

Install the laser level on a tripod, power on the laser level, and make sure it works in self-leveling mode. The laser level will project a laser line on the wall. Adjust the height of the laser line to reach the top of the cabinets. You will easily find which cabinet is the highest.

Step 2: Set the Horizontal Guideline for All Cabinets

We will use the top of the highest cabinet as the horizontal guideline to level all cabinets with this guideline.

Adjust the height of the laser level until the laser line meets the top of the highest cabinet. We will get a 360-degree horizontal guideline around all rooms.

Step 3: Raise the Lower Cabinets

Use the measuring tape to measure the distance between the guideline and the top of the lower cabinets. Select a suitable wood shim and put it on the top of the cabinet. Make sure the top of the wood shim meets the guidelines. Repeat this process for four corners of the cabinet to select suitable wood shims. Due to the floor not being level, the wood shim thickness for four corners might be different. Put the wood shims underneath the four corners of the cabinet.

Step 4: Check Your Work

Once you've installed all your cabinets, you must check if all the cabinets are leveled. Check the top of all cabinets perfectly meets the guidelines. If not, you can still adjust the wood shims as needed.

Conclusion

Using a laser level for kitchen cabinet installation is a straightforward process that can save you time and ensure your cabinets are level and straight. The laser level is much more efficient and easy to use than the traditional level. Following these steps, you can confidently install your cabinets and achieve professional-looking results.
